South Africa’s brightest junior golfers are making waves this April.

Two elite Protea teams are proudly flying the flag at two major events: the 2025 All-Africa Junior Team Championship in Tunisia and the Zimbabwe Junior Open. These events not only celebrate youth talent but also open doors to global platforms such as the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup in Japan.

The South African boys’ team — featuring Dewan de Bruin, Roelof Craig, Johndre Ludick, and Marno Lange — aims to extend their historic 17-title winning streak. Meanwhile, the girls’ team, represented by Kesha Louw, Lisa Coetzer, and debutant Casey Twidale, look to maintain their unbeaten run since 2017.

Set at the picturesque Residence Golf Club in Tunisia, the championship promises high-level competition with players from over 13 countries. It’s a test of mental and physical resilience on a course framed by a nature reserve and the Mediterranean Sea.

Back home, 16 juniors head to Zimbabwe’s Borrowdale Brooke Golf Estate to compete in the Zimbabwe Junior Open. Names to watch include Western Province’s Josh Daniels, Zayaan Hendricks, and Zoey Rhoda, along with national talents like Alessia Goussard and Thabang Simon.

According to GolfRSA CEO Grant Hepburn, “These events are key to building the future of South African golf.” With full support from the National Lotteries Commission and the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, junior golfers are being groomed not just to compete, but to win on the world stage.
